Something In Between

By: Mia Palencia

What lies between life and death?
A question that lingers in my head.
Curious about the in-between,
heaven and earth, the universe’s unseen.

I ponder what exists in between,
those things that don’t take sides, so serene.
Those that lie amidst existence’s stream,
between everything, a hidden theme.

One, two, three, and more hours of thinking,
still, the answer eludes, I am left sinking.
It takes days, weeks, and even a year,
but my answer remains unclear.

I couldn’t find that something in between,
and I hope to find it, sooner or later, I dream.
I wish to discover my own answer,
to shed light on this existential dancer.

Then, a light bulb suddenly appears,
and yes, hope is the answer, it clears.
Between life and death, hope gleams,
the bridge that exists in our dreams.

Hope resides within and everywhere,
In every breath, it’s something we share.
Between life and death, hope redeems,
the essence that shows we truly care is that something in between.
